Artist Beryl Cook dies at the grand old age of 81

Beryl Cook sadly passed away in her sleep yesterday. Cook was renowned for her picture postcard, fun loving, larger than life portraits and scenes. Overlooked throughout her career by the art establishment but loved by her many fans.

We like Beryl because of her single minded attitude in the face of criticism. She painted what she loved, always happy scenes that she thought others might enjoy. Perfectly in line with our thinking... love the art, then read what the art critics say... (consider this when viewing our gallery.)

Jimi Hendrix - Digital Illustration by 'Po'

Thought we'd showcase one of favourite 'Art By People' canvas art prints. Its by 'Po'. a young man with bags of digital design talent and an imagination to match. A Jimi Hendrix picture is a must for online art galleries. Usually its a black and white picture with a few simple photo shop tweaks. Po went mental on his design and completely remastered a classic Hendrix pose. Psychedelic to the max with meaningful abstract additions. And if you have forgotten just how good Hendrix was, click this video like to the legendary Isle of Wight ''All along the watchtower' performance. They don't make em like the used to...

A cool street art video doing the rounds on the net...

I was lucky enough to come across Blu's work a few years back. Street artist from Bologna from Italy. From following his blog I believe it took him 5 months to complete in total... done in Buones Aries Argentina.

His work is basically mental... impressive to follow although one criticism is I sometimes find it difficult to glean a meaning.

Street Art - The beginning of the end, or the beginning of the start.

This came on our radar last week. Street Art, by definition has its origins outside the art galleries and the establishment. Its seem like the Tate has caught the bug:

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art-and-architecture/news/tate-acts-as-blank-canvas-for-street-art-833576.html

We think its just the beginning... it comes back to the people. What the people like the people get... the Tate has reacted to the scene, the scene was created by the people... fans and graffiti artists.

Art By People - Why we are different...

Hello People. Hope you like our website http://www.artbypeople.co.uk/ , thats where we showcase our art and reproduce original artworks as canvas art prints. We like canvas art as it takes the fuss out of framing for our customers... it takes seconds to hang, and looks great for a lifetime.

This blog is more of a rambling affair. Art is a creative and vast subject and inspiration can come from the strangest of places. Some of the posts will be random, some will be very specific to our business.

Anyway, in a nutshell our business has its roots in the production of original art. When we first had the idea of starting our own online business (back in 2004) we trawled the web looking at whats was on offer. To our surprise, its dominated by print companies that have diversified into selling prints. The prints are often purchased from stock photography sites and reproduced by the million. Our art is sourced direct from artists with a diverse range of talents... we then take those originals and turn them into canvas prints. We hope our prints have value to you in the longterm as our business grows.

The name 'Art By People' comes from our deep rooted belief that art on your walls should be admired regardless of the artists name but more from the quality of the picture. We are always on the look out for new talent and we encourage you to contact us if you are interested in sharing your work with us, you can email us at artbypeople@googlemail.com.
